ABOUT
Three years at Barking School of Art led to my first job in design at WHS Advertising. Moving on after a couple of years, I worked in both agencies and design companies before moving on to Yellow Pages, where I developed my interest in photography.
In the late 70s I became photographer at the busy 3,000 sq. ft. studio of Fidelity in Basildon which led to the setting up of my own independent studio in 1984 in Shotgate, Essex, concentrating exclusively on advertising photography.
I soon ran out of space, forcing a move to a larger unit in Southfields, Basildon, which was big enough to handle more complex furniture layouts.
My studio work has been extremely varied, involving a wide range of products, from electronics, food and drink to large room sets. Much of my location work took place in London, photographing house and apartment interiors and the urban landscape.
However my work also took me away from home. For example, I carried out a commission for Kodak in Ireland and for another client, I photographed a property development in the south of Spain.
I now only work in the studio on table-top product photography, principally jewellery. In addition, I also take photographs for Alamy, the picture library.
Pictured above, in our Southfields studio, is Jenny, my wife, without
whose help the whole venture would not have been possible.
To the right of the picture is assistant, Sarah.
